Diana & Don Huska
Diana's Bio:
I have been married for 40 years to my husband Don. We live in Sheffield Lake. Im a loving mother of three, all of which have grown up and are doing well for themselves. I have been in the public eye since 1999 when I was first elected as Council-at-Large for Sheffield Lake. I have always represented the people to the best of my ability. My phone is always on and open for people to call that may have direct concerns or questions. I have learned that being a public servant is not a glorious job and requires a big ear to listen to what people have to say and a good heart to always make the right decisions.
My main achievement for Sheffield Lake was to seek out, plan, and execute a way for the city to attain a 30% discount on prescription drugs. I was able to do this with the help of Mature RX. They were gracious enough to make this plan available to all the residents of the city, regardless of age, and at no extra costs to the city or its residents.
My main concern for Ohio is the lack luster economy. The main problem is our state is not able to hold down companies from moving to other states, along with the problem of not drawing in other new companies. Many people have lost their jobs and many more will lose their jobs. This is a serious situation that needs to be dealt with immediately. Another concern I have is current Ohio legislation that prohibits many people from being qualified for unemployment. Many of these people should be qualified and need the extra help to get back on their feet again. Other issues concerning our ever-rising automobile gas prices. It seems every time we turn around, someone is reaching into our pocket books. We have companies that leave us, gas companies that gouge us, and legislation that does not protect us. These concerns need to be addressed fixed. I'm not saying that I can solve all the problems and I would be weary of someone who says they can. However, I am saying that I can make a positive difference for the people, one step at a time.
